Osteopathic treatments are a form of natural and holistic manual techniques used by osteopaths to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury to the patient, especially in necks, backs and joints. These manipulations usually include stretching exercises, gentle pressure and resistance to aid the healing process.
In general osteopaths work holistically, treating the body as a whole, using techniques such as joint manipulation, muscle stretching and soft tissue massage. Sarah will try to find the root cause of your injury and work with you to fix it so that you don’t have to keep going back.
Sarah offers pain management for many musculoskeletal conditions, including:
Apart from the preceding, Sarah also offers specialised programs for:
By using touch, physical manipulation, stretching and soft tissue techniques, osteopathy addresses the restrictions and dysfunctions to help provide optimal conditions for healing. These methods can also be given to reduce work and life style stresses, assist with recovery after injury and prevention of recurrent symptoms. It can also help to relieve posture and weight bearing issues encountered during pregnancy.
Whilst back pain is the most common problem seen, osteopathy can help relieve symptoms of a wide variety of problems including:
At the first consultation a full medical case history will be conducted. It is common practice for osteopaths to initially do a full body assessment to establish if the cause of your problem originates elsewhere. You will be asked to dress down to under garments, so please feel free to wear vest tops, shorts, or swim wear (gowns can also be provided). An examination of the specific problematic area will be carried out. Findings will then be discussed and a treatment plan agreed.
Osteopathy has the potential to help every one of all ages, from all walks of life. Even if you have an existing medical condition this additional treatment can be very beneficial.
If after your first consultation it is felt that osteopathic treatment would not be suitable at this time, we will refer to other healthcare professionals, in both the orthodox and complementary fields, to ensure the appropriate care is received.
Children under 16 are required to have a parent/carer present.
